Ensuring Diversity in a Large Type II Diabetes Study

CASE STUDY:
Ensuring Diversity in a Large Type II Diabetes Study

PatientCentra was asked to provide digital recruitment support for a large, Type II Diabetes trial, leveraging a proprietary diabetes platform website and patient database. While enrolling patients was the primary goal, the secondary goal was to ensure the recruited patient population represented the overall diabetic population. One of the challenges immediately identified from the PatientCentra database would be in obtaining the 65+ age demographic and recruiting a larger non-white population.
PatientCentra used a variety of strategies and tactics in order to meet the diversity needs of the study:
- Age: Segmented population down to specific age groups and modified bids,
budgets, images, and messaging to the corresponding demographic. - Geography: Focused on states and specific areas within the target states
to drive efficiency. - Ethnicity: Proactively promoted for inclusion of ethnicity targets through
diversification of imagery and utilization of audience and behavior targeting. - Gender: Tailored imagery and messaging to specific gender targets.
- Pre-Screener Logic Adjustments: Instituted ability to modify the logic based on the overall recruitment goals. For example, if a specific age segment was fully recruited, logic could have been altered to no longer allow that age group to pass the pre-screener.
IRB approved materials were created and PatientCentra utilized targeting capabilities on various digital channels to drive a high volume of patient inquiries (~400,000).
